Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee

The Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC) is a representative of community pharmacy on NHS matters. Its main objective is to secure the best possible remuneration, terms and conditions for NHS pharmacy contractors in England and Wales. Much of the PSNC's work involves discussions and negotiations with the Department of Health.

 

Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain is the regulatory and professional body for pharmacists in England, Scotland and Wales. It maintains the registers of pharmacists and pharmacy premises and assures the fitness to practise of pharmacists, wherever they work.

 

National Pharmaceutical Association

The National Pharmaceutical Association (NPA) is the national body of Britain's community pharmacy owners. It was formed in 1921 to champion the interests of pharmacy owners and to promote, improve and protect an essential service to the public.

 

Company Chemists Association

The Company Chemists' Association is comprised of Boots The Chemists, Lloydspharmacy, Moss Pharmacy, Safeway Stores, Superdrug, Tesco and Sainsbury's. CCA member companies are responsible for the running of over 4,000 pharmacies.

Both professional and managerial career opportunities for pharmacists are available and a significant proportion of pharmacy graduates undertake pre-registration experience with member companies.

The CCA is extensively consulted on pharmaceutical issues by the government and professional bodies. Its influence is felt at both a national and local level. The CCA is represented on the Pharmacy Services Negotiating Committee, local pharmaceutical committees and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Community Pharmacy Group and is a partner in the Community Practice Consortium Group.

The expertise, experience and commitment to pharmacy of the member companies is widely respected. This is a reflection of the importance placed by the companies on working together for the future vitality and viability of pharmacy. The CCA has made a significant contribution to work done on the shaping of the four-year degree course and the 'Pharmacy In A New Age' initiative and continues to work in the interests of pharmacy.

 

Co-Operative Pharmacy Technical Panel

The Co-operative Pharmacy Technical Panel is a collaborative body which represents the interests of all Co-operative Community Pharmacies in the United Kingdom.

The Panel works on behalf of the Co-operative Movement to ensure that the Co-operative Pharmacy voice is heard in all areas of the profession.

The Panel works closely with other representative bodies within the profession to further advance Community Pharmacy practice and to develop innovative professional services
