The Community Pharmacy Medicines Management (CPMM) Project is a unique study. Its objective is to introduce a structured intervention process into the relationship between the community pharmacist, the patient and the general practitioner. The Project is designed as a randomised controlled trial (RCT) that is seeking to evaluate if community pharmacists can contribute to health outcomes in cardiovascular disease through medicines management services.
All the major organisations representing community pharmacy are sponsoring the project, which has also received the support of the Department of Health. It has been approved by the Medical Research Ethics Committee and will be evaluated by a Research Team, led by the University of Aberdeen and involving the Universities of Keele and Nottingham, together with the College of Pharmacy Practice.
